Encouraging Studentprenuership

India produce over 16 lacs of engineers annually in various core, basic and specialized engineering courses. This number is even much more when other professional courses; like agriculture and science related; are included. To cater the huge pool of pursuant, lacs of faculties are involved in this knowledge industry. The total number of students and faculties in technical institutes are more than total enrolments of all the graduating disciplines of some of the developed countries of the Europe.  This pool of talents is to be considered as technical or high skilled professionals, which significantly contributes as one of the main drivers of economical and technological developmental activities of a country. Countries which have focused on technological developments and nurtured the culture of technical education, have grown leaps and bounds in all areas of human development index, even through all odds. Japan, South Korea, Germany, France, Israel, Singapore are some of the examples. It is a fact that the best ideas and there forth supergiant organisations are the brainchild conceived and incepted in university laboratories. However, India, even though some growth has been noticed in recent years, lacks far behind in the developmental journey. In spite of having one of the largest bunch of technical and non-technical professionals, India is dependent on others for technology except few marvellous achievements.  This issue has multi-faceted views, opinions and beliefs. But, the answer is more or less skewed to paralysed education structure. By the way, whatever is the reason, more important is to focus on the solutions. In this rapidly changing technological era, one can’t rely on the long term policies and wait for years to get benefits of policy. A comparatively short term solutions with sure shots are inevitable, especially for India, where employment creators are not able to offer work to masses, developmental policies are framed based on political advantages and activities are badly governed (Some exceptions may be there).

One of the solution to boost the employment and innovation based incubations to harness multi-faceted developments, the new age education model can be useful. The model is called Studentprenuership. In this model, faculties are at centre stage and mentor the group of students. The group of faculties and students work together for projects/ products/ideas/solutions from its conceptual state to end use level. The crux is to learn ‘think-analyse-build-market-sale’ strategy at the university itself. Students will be familiarised with the entire project development cycle starting from conceptualisation of innovative ideas, products, and solutions to technical feasibility evaluation, management of seed funds/capitals, final product, finding marketplace and sales & support. The project work can be taken up by the next batch of student, if it could not been completed by the previous group. This type of concurrent education environment will built mental infrastructure, immense confidence, and ready platform for siblings to gear up such activities.

Such Studentprenuership oriented education will provide hands on experience starting from the concept- to- product, and demonstrate the shear will and zeal required to build a platform for a venture. This model will promote technical, managerial, financial and administrative skills and aptitude amongst students and faculties as well. If the Studentprenuership concept is made compulsory at the institute/university level, with government assistance and involvement of faculties, it has the capacity to create and promote new ventures at exponential rate.  The vision for startup india and make in india would be achieved quickly where employee become employers for many.

Shaping your dreams through this blog content

Hello Everyone,

This is Janak Valaki, a professor in engineering by carrier, am delighted to have you on my blog content. This is a blog which is meant to visit again and again by the visitors of different genre. You can be a high school going child, college student, carrier path finder or a working professional in engineering or other areas, the content would help you in one or other way.

Looking back to the journey of my own life as a student from various cadre to cadre, i.e. school going boy having multiple yet viwering dreams in life, a forced and direction less engineering graduate student, a half focused post graduate and a self-oriented yet confident doctoral student in engineering, I have witnessed the ever changing yet never ending streams of dreams. It has created a sort of dilemmatic and semantic mind set. Over the years of my experience as a professional, I have realised and recognised the same problems from my students and friends as well. Walked through the tough path, i understood that it was lack of awareness about what to do and how to be prepared for next step, lack of mentor; who can guide you. You must be agree to me that some are very active and enthusiastic in all aspects of activities while others are very casual. Is it because of smartness, interest, god gift? Think on it!!!!

The idea of this blog was ignited in my mind with a view to help those who are really interested to sharpen and mould their skills as a student, to get direction in professional carrier, to inculcate confidence for the professional work, and also to explore new frontiers of information and knowledge.

I wish, this blog might be helpful to some of you in one or another way.

Best Wishes….
